20 Art Centres in 14 days – a life
changing experience!
We have returned from our art buying mission in Australia.
The trade tour was organized by the Australian government
with the mission of promoting Aboriginal art to the US market.
As one of nine delegates, Manuel discovered new art communities,
met numerous artists, forged new relationships with art centre
managers, prominent art dealers and museum curators and enjoyed
the spectacular backdrop of the Australian Central and Western
Desert landscape.
The trade mission started in Uluru (Ayers Rock) on May 25
and 40 charter flights later ended in Darwin on June 6. Manuel
also had the privilege of personalized tours of the Museum
and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the esteemed
Darwin Supreme Court Art Collection. It was an unparalleled
education of the Aboriginal art market, Aboriginal culture
and the challenges faced by industry participants.
We now have some wonderful new additions to our collection,
broadening the media of works we offer to include paintings
on bark from the Top End, ochre paintings from the Kimberly
and Mimi spirit carvings.

The Gallery
aboriginal
art collection
aims to promote and support Australian Indigenous artists
to enable non-Indigenous people to embrace this rich culture
and to engender increased knowledge of and respect for Australia’s
unique heritage.
aboriginal
art collection
offers works from both emerging and established Aboriginal
artists, illustrating the diverse range of indigenous art
in Australia.
Each Aboriginal painting depicts an individual interpretation
of events from the artist's Dreaming (tjukurrpa or jukurrpa).
Paintings from the Central and Western Desert communities
represent stories from one of many cycles that concern travelling,
mythical ancestral beings and the country that is laced by
their path. The value of the Dreaming emanates from the conception
that the world as it now exists is a result of these beings.
Persons, customs, geographical features are all believed to
have originated in the Dreaming. For more information about
a particular painting's story, please
